Well, when He says I am the way, the truth, and the life, mainly. Today is brought out more by Paul i guess, although Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, i think? Also I die daily, although thats subtly diff from a Buddhist perspective, its still the same concept i think. He who says that he knows anything does not yet know it as he ought could be considered a critique of Buddhism prolly, as is works wont save you, but Dont be too good or too bad, or iow “middle way” is expressed a couple diff waysCould you please explain what you mean by this?the Bible forwards many Buddhists principles, Jesus even invokes “the way.”
Unknown God in Jonah and a couple other spots, Why do you ask My Name? And many others i guess, a search of “Jesus and Buddhism” gives a bunch of hits, books on the subject even, over and above the “Jesus went to India” bit, wikipedia even has a page on it. What struck me the most is you notice how no one ever disagrees with Tao or Buddhist stories? Yet pretty much everyone disagrees with Bible stories?
Idt thats unintentional; seems quite deliberate. Reincarnation is rejected, but also suggested, etc, so also a divergence from Buddhist or Dao thought, which to me more truthfully expresses our position, since we dont really know. But even soul as, in truth, breath, although soul has a diff definition to us now.
Buddhism actually supposedly has a prob with agnosticism, as you might see in the link, but then their definition of agnostic is maybe a little strict? So we have this weird thing where Buddhists reveal beliefs where they say they have none, and tbh it can even get funny, like talking to an atheist about beliefs, where you start to realize that they mostly have an aversion to the term, although they def have beliefs? But on that note, praising Samaritans might be considered Buddhist, sort of.
But my point there was that the Bible actually downplays beliefs, although that is harder to illustrate since beliefs are so often conflated with faith now, but OT there are five diff kinds of belief, five also surely being intentional, and we can notice how beliefs are so often turned into Absolute Truths by believers? Iow beliefs, which by def should be subject to examination, cannot be examined?
Which is refuted in the Bible many diff ways, subtle, but “God can make believers out of rocks,” at least paraphrased, and several others, Test everything, and keep what is good, etc
Become one as we are one too i guess, And many of Paul’s refutes of Greek gnosticism could also be considered commentary on Buddhism
