I mean, why would God create hell in the first place?
Hell was created for Satan and his angels Matt.25:41. Hell was not made for man. Everyone who goes to Hell, goes there as a foreigner. Hell is the alternate choice for Heaven. If people do not want to live with God in this life, why would they want to live with Him in the next? So God offers mankind a choice…Heaven with Him or Hell. The better question is why would anyone choose Hell?

I’m waiting for proof from you that religion is just pretend. You made the claim, now you should be able to support your claim.

All the problems with the Bible, such as the ones we’ve talked—

That some of the writers of the Old Testament believed there were multiple goals, but Yahweh was their God and was the best God.

That the Gospel of Matthew seems to promote the idea of saved by works, in contrast to other parts of the New Testament which promote saved by faith. Matthew chapter 7 promotes works, and especially Matthew chapter 25, verses 31 to 46.

I know this is not in keeping with the standard teaching of evangelical Christians. But it is there, clear as a bell. And, supposedly verses 31 to 46 are the words of Jesus.

Your misunderstanding and misapplication of the Bible does not make it pretend. It simply shows you are Biblically uneducated. Since you failed to offer proof that the Christian religion is pretend, we can put your claim in the rubbish pile.

Your misunderstanding and misapplication of the Bible

Please tell me how I’m misunderstanding Matthew ch 25, verses 31 - 46.

As part of my response that religion is not the only game in town, I usually like to show a theory of ethics, such as John Stuart Mill.

Here I’m showing a theory of human psychology — the Myers Briggs.

There are 16 types of personalities, and none of the 16 is a majority. :)

As far as good deeds, here’s the newest Willy Wonka movie from about a year ago.

Willy helps a teenage girl find her mother.

starting Timothée Chalamet and Calah Lane

Negative personal comments about a person are against the guidelines of the forum. You can say that a view, action, or religion is terrible, but are not allowed to say that a person or group (example, Christians) is terrible."

I have explained in detail the relationship between works and salvation. A separate thread was started to discuss this topic in depth. Your insistence that works are required for salvation show you are misinterpreting and misapplying scripture.

I did not say Lemur was terrible. I said he/she was uneducated in the Bible. This is not a personal attack. We are all uneducated in different areas of life. I am uneducated in Buddhist beliefs; I am uneducated in surgical procedures; I am uneducated in basketball rules. Unless you are God, Himself, there are things you are uneducated in. This isn’t ad hominem, this is fact. I don’t apologize for the truth, but if my tone was offensive please forgive me.

Might either of you two care to give what top 5 verses or ideas Christians usually focus on of the New Testament?
1. John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

2. Romans 1:18-20 is usually used to show that all know deep down that there is a God
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

3. Revelations 20 (esp. vs 15)
Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

4. Matthew 19:9
"I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

5. Ephesians 2:8-9 This one is relevant of the discussion on this thread...
. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
