An early Christian group called the Gnostics left us with a wealth of writings that tells us about Jesus. Just to name a few, we have the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Philip, the Secret Gospel of Mark, etc. I vaguely remember reading that the Gnostics weren't liked because they would get some of their knowledge from trance states of mind. Is this really why their views weren't accepted?
Opening the floor to all readers and members..
1. Why are the Gnostics considered heretics?
2. Why are the writings produced by them, not even the Gospel of Thomas, not accepted as part of Scripture?
