President Trump's administration is seen as being tough on immigrants and is quick to deport them. Yet, he seems to go out of his way to label White South Africans as being refugees and allowing them into the U.S. My initial response is that i don't like it because it seems to be a double standard in that he's not treating immigrants of other nations the same way. There's that and then this seems to have Elon Musk's fingerprints all over it given that Elon's family comes from South Africa.
What are your thoughts on this?
I also watched a CNN segment on it, and towards the end there was an exchange between a CNN reporter and a DHS spokesperson on White genocide occurring in South Africa. A series of claims were made during that interview and I question which ones are valid.
For instance, did President Trump suspend a refugee program?
Are White South Africans facing persecution in their country?
Did President Trump "expedite" the immigration process for South Africans?
Has he allowed in any other refugees from other countries since his 2nd term or just this group?
Getting to the bottom of these questions would really factor in big into my view on this issue.
Here's the interview, between 2:30 minute mark until the end...
