In this thread, I want to make a list of all of the partisan thinking and behavior I encounter. And add some ways that a non-partisan should think and act in that situation.
1. All or nothing thinking:
Example... a policy is painted as being entirely (esp. if from opposing party) bad or entirely good.
Non-partisan perspective: Hardly is something entirely wrong or entirely right. There's usually some good and bad to any policy. A non-partisan would agree with the good while going against the bad or suspending judgment in unknown cases.
2. Selective outrage.
Non-partisan perspective: Be outraged towards anything immoral, but also don't fall into the trap of blaming one side or just focusing on one ongoing instance. I'd want to take action that deals with all involved and all instances. You can usually always tell if it's selective outrage based on the solutions proposed, like if it only targets one side and not the other or it only addresses one instance and not others although you can start with one instance but should also show willingness and energy to go after other instances especially when it's their side involved.
3. Demonizing.
More to be added.

- Google Ai search results "selective outrage meaning"Selective outrage refers to the phenomenon where someone expresses strong disapproval or anger (outrage) about certain actions or events while remaining silent or less expressive about similar or related events. It implies a degree of inconsistency or bias in the expression of outrage, often leading to accusations of insincerity or ulterior motives.
