Like the Quija board, spirits have a scientific explanation and a metaphysical one.

The scientific line of thinking is that spirits are a product of hallucinations.

You are conflating "The scientific line of thinking" with "Science" as a process of non-bias opinion et al removed.
The metaphysical or religious explanation is that spirits are us in a disembodied form or some other disembodied being such as a God or angels.
And that is what I was pointing out as " Using Anthropocentric Mythology in Scientific Research"
Unfortunately, much of my knowledge for how spirits are come from the Bible since my Christian days. After leaving Christianity, I came across a podcasts or 2 where paranormal topics were covered. One interesting verse on spirits that stood out to me is this..Numbers 22:31:
31 Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.

What does opening eyes really mean? It obviously gave Balaam the ability to see spirits. Is this like a dimension or like a wavelength of light that we cant ordinarily see? Is this like the vibrations of consciousness that you and others bring up?🤔
Good questions. How does "The Lord" "open our eyes" and could we "see" without having to actually endure seeing stuff which would cripple us?

I watched your Ai interactions from the first video. I actually chose that wording "scientific line of thinking" because I thought about the distinction that you brought up. I didn't feel that it rised to the level of science, although you and the Ai interactions explained the distinction much better. I thought the scientific line of thinking came more from a belief system or even a theoretical framework (metaphysical naturalism) than from any real examination of cases involving spirits. But then again, scientists may feel that they don't need to investigate actual spirit sightings if they can recreate the experience in a lab by stimulating certain areas of the brain, and just point to that as the cause.

Read through the responses, mostly from the first video. The Ai consistently called the "opening of eyes" a metaphor. I think that's very possible. I'm also open to the idea that it could just be some special ability like a spiritual gift to be able to see spirits. It could also be a mix of the two, i.e. involving both metaphor and some literal truth to it, like the author using the metaphor "opening of eyes" to allude to a literal event - and perhaps he used that metaphor for a lack of a better way (due to his basic and limited understanding) of explaining it.
